4. Steaming

In the sawmill, the logs are prepared to go through the next step of the slicing or rotary cutting: they are put into increasingly heated water tanks, at different temperatures and times, depending on the type of wood species.

In this way the wood fiber is made softer and prepared for the slicing operations.
